Recap

This has been a crazy week....and it ain't over yet!  I had already started the week off discombobulated (with Monday being a holiday) but then.....

Hurricane Alaska happened.  I have never seen anything like it.  We lost power Tuesday evening just before 8.  The wind picked up big time.  Apparently, it was originally measuring at like 43 miles per hour but then all of the weather sensors went out as the majority of Anchorage lost power.  Joe and I literally thought for a little while that our roof was going to go flying off or that we were going to lose our fence.  Somehow after a while, I was able to go to sleep.  We didn't sleep very well though because we thought our phones were going to die and that we would not get the alarm for work.  At this time we didn't know how bad the rest of Anchorage was hit or what was really going on outside of our house.  I don't think Mac slept very well because when Joe went in there to check his windows (the wind was forcing water between the seal and the window in our bedroom) Mac popped right up in the bed.  He was up for a total of maybe 5 minutes.  Joe brought him in our bedroom in hopes that he would just go right back to sleep in our bed.  Nope.

When we woke up the next morning, the first thing we did was check our phones.  Thank goodness for Facebook because that is how I found out that work was canceled.  We still didn't have power.  Since we didn't have to work, we went right back to sleep.  The wind was way more gentle at this point.  When we woke up again, the power was still out.  We went outside to check out the damage.  There were roof shingles all in our yard.  There were trees down all through our neighborhood.  Joe called the insurance company to figure out how we could get our roof replaced and what they would cover.  Apparently, we have to meet a deductible of 1000$ and according to the estimate it was going to cost a minimum of 1000$ to replace 25 shingles.  Joe and I went to Lowe's where he found out that it was something easy enough to do on his own....so guess what Joe is doing this weekend?????

Mac had a great time though just running around and playing.  We started a fire in the house on Wednesday morning because our house was getting cold.  Mac loved staring into it!

This morning Joe had to go to work early so I took the big boy to Erica's!  He looked so stinking cute in his carseat!

With the crazy hurricane, came termination dust (snow at the top of the mountains which signals the termination of summer/fall).....That means in about a month we will be getting snow in Anchorage.  Funny story, Denali National Park has about 4 inches of snow at the visitor center way back in the park...
