I like your.....

Mac has been extremely affectionate lately.  He does a lot of listing of things he likes.  Here are some examples (some appropriate and some not so much).

Mommy, I like your toes.
Goodmama, I like your toes.
Goodmama, I like your shirt.
Daddy, I like your wee wee.

Joe and Mama are at the grocery store so I put a mask on my face.  When I came downstairs, Mac goes "Mommy, what's on your face?  I like your face like that."  STRANGE STRANGE boy.

This morning he was in a super cuddly mood.  I figure our lives are going to change even more starting tomorrow so I spent the morning snuggling with my man.  We watched a lot of his shows.  We cuddled and snuggled with his bopey.

And Mac just came over to me and we had the following conversation....

Mac: Mommy, what's on your face?
Me: It's a mask to make my skin pretty.
Mac: Oh.
Mac: Mommy, when I had a mask my face and skin was not pretty.

Oh how I love that crazy little man.  I plan on doing some serious snuggling with him tomorrow too (before and after my doctor's appointment which is at 10:30).  I go in to be induced at 6.  I have been putting together magazines/books/technology in a bag to keep me entertained.  They are inducing me with Cerdivil (spelling?).  From what I have gleaned from Googling, it can take a while but it is a gentler way to induce than Pitocin.  I am expecting this to take a long time.

Memorial Day

This was a packed day!  Caryn and Cayla came over to play.  Joe got the camper cleaned.  Joe and I went to visit Sarah and her new baby.  I forget how tiny and sleepy they are!  SO MUCH EASIER than chasing a Godzilla!

When we got back from visiting Sarah, Joe decided to wash the cars.  Our cars are currently covered in pollen and smoke ash.  Mac rushed to put on his new bathing suit (which is ADORABLE) and outside we went so he could "help" wash the cars.  Mac washing the cars means that he sprayed water all over the place and stomped in the puddles.  He also discovered a love of spraying the bubbles off of the cars.  SO CUTE.

After the car washing fun, we headed to the back yard so Joe could grill out the meal that he has decided is going to be our Memorial Day tradition meal.  This consists of brauts (yuck I hate them), garlic parmesan french fries (delish), and grilling beans (yuck).  Mac spent some cute time with his Good Mama.

He has been a little cranktastic today.  I think he might be getting a cold.  His voice is a little hoarse. :(

After dinner, I REALLY wanted a cupcake.  So Joe and I went on a cupcake hunt.  We found one at a grocery store near us.  I was fully planning on eating that entire thing.  Couldn't do it.  That was one large cupcake!

Switching gears for a second, yesterday we watched the GA Tech baseball game.  This is how my son watches baseball.....he is weird.

Funny River Fire update

So by now ya'll know that there is a massive wildfire taking place about 2 hours south of Anchorage.  Alaska is no stranger to wildfires but they generally don't start this early or this bad.  You mostly hear about wildfires in the Interior.  This one is located in the Kenai Peninsula in the area of Soldotna.  That part of the Kenai is a big fishing area.  This entire wildfire was started by a campfire that was not properly put out.  This doesn't sound like a big deal but when you haven't had precipitation in roughly 2 months, it becomes a VERY big deal.

The last time I heard the stats the fire was right around 160,000 acres (which is roughly 250 square miles).  They say that it is 30% contained.  As of the last time I heard, there were no injuries.  There have been numerous evacuations.  At one point yesterday, the fire jumped a big river (Kenai River).  Here is a map of the fire's area and the proximity to the towns of Soldotna and Sterling.

Today, Joe and I headed to the grocery store right near our house and when we got to the parking lot this was our view.....

The smoke gave the sun a crazy red look.  I stole this picture from my friend on Facebook.

When we got home, the sky has a hazy brown look to it.  It is crazy looking.

Here are two crazy pictures that the news channel posted on their Facebook page (KTUU).

Lastly, this picture was shared on Facebook (can't remember by who).  But apparently last night after the sun actually went down, someone who lives on the Hillside in South Anchorage (our house is considered lower hillside) went outside and took this picture.  You can literally see the fire from the hillside because the fire is so big.  You can see it from the hillside even though it is over two driving hours away.  INSANE.

More Landscaping...

I was feeling like getting a lot done today.  That means that Joe was going to be doing a lot.  I had a lot more pictures but for some reason my iPad decided to delete them.  I decided that we needed to mulch out the tree that Joe planted in the front yard.  I also decided we needed to add flowers in the flower bed that lines the front porch.

Yup.  I planted flowers.  Marigolds went into the flower bed.

Mac and Joe dug out the grass around the tree.  (this is what I had more pictures of)

Our neighbor came over to help Joe dig out the old dead Lilac stump that was in our front yard.  Now there is a random dirt spot in our yard.  It will eventually look way better than having a dead Lilac stump there in the yard.

Mac decided to further "help" Joe by watering himself and a random spot in the yard.  He makes me giggle.

We also put mulch in around the Mommy tree and in the flower bed.  Mulch makes everything look better.  We still need to put around the edging for the Mommy tree but we are off to a better start.

These are the flowers near the Mommy tree.

After we got done mulching in the front yard, we headed to the backyard.  Our back yard is STRUGGLING.  There are tons of dead grass patches from the dogs going to the bathroom in the winter time.  I decided to add some plants to the back.  Last summer, I planted two dwarf evergreen trees in planters on the sides of the garage doors.  One of them was looking pretty rough so we decided to try them in the backyard where they could get more sunshine and water.  Joe dug big ole holes and dropped them in.  We still need to cut the grass near them but I think eventually it is going to look better.  Maybe tomorrow we will run the sprinkler in the back yard again to see if we can get some of that grass back.......FINGERS crossed.

After the trees got planted, we headed back to the front yard to clean up everything.  Mac once again "assisted."

Here is the progress so far.....

I have 2 lilac bushes in my yard and they are starting to get ready to bloom.  The one closer to the front of the house blooms earlier and bigger than the one near my fence.

And so this entire post is not just about the random yard work we have been doing....here are some snuggle pictures with Mac!
