Enjoying the sunshine

Yesterday was such a fabulous day and we had a packed house.  Here is who we had at our house:  Joe, myself, Mac, our dog Bella, our dog Heyward, Caryn, Cayla, later Nick, at the beginning Nick's little sister, Sarah, Lee, and their dog Kyla...

Sarah was the paparazi and got some pictures!  So cute!

He is so stinking cute.

Joe is the grill master.

Bubble machine that I got from someone at work.

Pig Platter

Oh man.  Target is a dangerous place.  I found the coolest things in Target today.  I found a white ceramic owl that is a piggie bank.  I was all over that!  I paid $3 for this pig platter (I find it adorable so don't judge).

I found Mac dinosaur figurines in the dollar section so he got 3 of those.  Spent the entire time in Target yelling like a dinosaur.

We spent some quality time outside again today.  It seriously got up to 70 degrees and you really just can't be indoors for that.  I am working on a great tan!  Sarah and Lee came over with their dog Kyla so Heyward got some great play time.  Sarah and I got our nails done.  I spent a lot of time sitting in our new chairs in the backyard watching the craziness!

Green thumb?

We are going to find out if Joe and I have a somewhat green thumb.  Granted, I have been able to keep mint, basil, rosemary, and succulents alive but can I keep something bigger alive?

I hated the look of the plant bed on the side of our front porch.  Hated.  I hated the concrete look to it.  I hated the grass stuff that had taken over it.  No ma'am.  Our original plan was to yank the whole thing out and plant evergreen shrubs.  I had everything picked out.  We started pulling out the concrete brick things and got all the way down to the end to discover that the previous owner had CEMENTED a small section together.  Doesn't really sound like a big deal.  Except for the fact that everything was connected so there was no way we were going to be getting it out.

Back to the drawing board.  We decided to stay with the evergreen idea (I like the thought of Alaska-y) but we had to leave the plant bed.  I think we might try later on to reface it with river rock or something.  I have no idea.

We shoveled off the top layer of the soil and got out as much as we could of the previous plants.  While Joe and Lee went to the store, I used a hand rake to stir up the dirt and to spread it evenly throughout the plant bed.

Joe and I had previously decided that we wanted Juniper to go in.  We compared prices at Home Depot and Lowes.  Lowes' had bigger plants but they were more expensive ($25 a pop) whereas Home Depot had smaller Juniper plants (way smaller) but they were only $7.  What did we got with?  The $7 small ones.  They can grow.  So right now it doesn't super look yet the way I really envisioned...but it will eventually!

T-Rex

I think my students view me as a T-Rex (albeit an approachable one).  They do the "if I don't move or make eye contact with her she can't see me" thing.  Ha.  That NEVER works for them.  Today was the last day of finals (thank GOODNESS).  I said goodbye to some seriously amazingly awesome kids who I will still see and then I said goodbye to some not so awesome kids (inside I was doing a happy dance).  As a teacher, I had to give a final.  My study skills final was a joke.  Seriously.  I laughed while writing it.  After my students finished my final, they had to do a survey.  Here are 2 responses that I received:

I seriously had roughly 5 kids who wrote about not getting on my bad side.

Ha.  Don't look directly at me.

Our friend Sarah came over for dinner tonight (her husband is up on the slope until tomorrow).  Sarah was so excited because has started saying her name (her and her husband were betting which of their names that Mac would say first).  After dinner, we took a walk through the neighborhood with the puppies and Mac.  Mac went in his red wagon.  We are going to try to make that a habit...taking a walk after dinner.  Mac had a big numero dos when we got back so into his jammies he went....giant belly and all.

I started blowing raspberries on Mac's belly so he decided he wanted to blow raspberries on my belly.  He lifted my shirt up while I was laying on the sofa, blew a raspberry, and then goes "mommy, all gone, no belly."  Silly little man.  He kept lifting his shirt up so I could blow raspberries on his belly.  I love that giant belly!

On a crazy Alaska note.  Check out this picture that someone put on Facebook!  HUGE!!!!!

Good gracious

Good gracious.  That is all I can think.  Good gracious.  Work was a nightmare due to finals.  Heyward is losing his ever loving mind.  Mac was the devil at Erica's and the devilry continued on at home.  My house is a complete disaster.  While I am typing this, Joe is at his softball double header games.  Today is just one of "those days."  In every way possible.  I am beyond exhausted, physically and definitely mentally.  Yup, this is going to be one of "those" posts.  It happens.

A positive?  Mac helped me clean his room that he epically destroyed with Liam over the weekend.

Here is a picture that Erica posted online of what her car looks like.....

That's right.  6 carseats.

During one of Mac's happy times today, he showed me his belly.  He is quite proud of that belly.  Rightly so.

Cross your fingers that I survive this week.

Your Input?

So.......I am thinking about becoming a 31 consultant.  It is a company that sells thermals, utility totes, bags, etc.  My friend Anna has some of the bags and they are AWESOME.  I got a catalog packet in the mail from them and there was a flier in there about becoming a consultant.  It got me to thinking.  There is a $99 buy in for the starter kit and discounts and samples.  As a consultant, I would get 25% of everything that I sell.  I would make my own hours.

"Oh gosh"

Mac seriously said that today.  It was his response to Joe taking off his socks because his feet stunk from splashing outside in a puddle.  Oh gosh.  Where in the world did he get that one from?????

This morning he picked his shirt out and apparently the sun inspired him to be tropical.  He brings a grin to my face every single day but especially on the days that he looks like this!

When I got home today, I discovered that Mac's Citrus Lane box had come in!  Oh my goodness!  Excitement.  The last box was not so good but this one was pretty awesome!

Mac LOVED the hamburger set.  I cannot emphasize loved enough.  "Mama, hambewger with cheese."

Once dinner started going (breakfast crescent roll ups), Mac and I headed outside to spend some quality time.  He loves going outside!  We pulled out the bubble lawn mower that he got for his birthday and he had a great time "cutting the grass."

I think this is the sweetest picture ever.

Guess what?  I also got a video!!!!!!!

Guess what else?  Stupid Blogger won't let me load the video.  I email it to you.
