Endo: Post-Surgery

So almost two weeks ago, I had surgery number 3 to try to help with my Endometriosis.  See previous post about my awesome disease here.  I went in at 6:30 and pretty quickly was taken back to be set up for surgery.  I very quickly informed my nurse that I don't do well with needles so they took really really good care of me when putting in my IV (IV's SUCK but they are not as bad if the nurse uses Lidocain).  Saw my awesome doctor and was wheeled back.
Do you know how intimidating it is to be awake when you are rolled into the OR?  Take it from me....it's real intimidating.  It's freezing.  There are lights everywhere.  There are medical things that I don't even know how to begin to describe.  They gave me the good stuff to make me pass out right after I saw my other awesome doctor who was doing my surgery.  Yep, two surgeons.  Special girl right here.  I honestly don't know how long my surgery lasted.  My ovary was not stuck to anything after all but they don't know why it didn't move in the test.  They tried to get off as much of my Endo adhesions as they could.  Apparently, my token ovary had so much adhesions on it that it looked like it was sprinkled all over with pepper.  Obviously, they couldn't remove all of that.  I think I ended up spending a while in recovery (it tends to take me a little bit to wake up from drugs).  I do remember that the people to my right were crazy loud and that the old lady to my left kept ignoring the nurses by moving or standing up.

I spent a lot of the first week just sleeping.  Joe would give me a granola bar and then my big girl drugs.  I stopped taking the big girl drugs on Friday.  At that point, I had so much of it in my system that I was not feeling very good with them.  I kind of felt like a crackhead and that is not a good feeling.  I didn't get my appetite back until probably 2 days ago (so over a week and a half after my surgery).

An awesome part of this?  My amazing mother in law was up here to take care of everyone and everything that first week of surgery and then my mama came in for the second week.  Mama might have gotten the brunt of things because week 2 I was awake and bored and cranky.  Mary just got me while I was sleeping or on meds.  Another shallow benefit of this?  I have dropped like 8 pounds.  I guess when you don't really eat much for a week, that's what will happen.  I fully expect that I will probably gain that weight back......dang cupcakes and oreos!

My stomach looks awesome (I really hope that you can hear the extreme sarcasm).  I have scars/incisions above my hipbones.  I giant 4 inch scar going across my pelvis.  I have a incision in my belly button and 4 round incision spots around my belly button where they had to lift my abdominal wall with this last surgery.  I guess I earned those stripes!

Why in the world am I posting this now?  Today, I had my post-op appointment.  My doctor reviewed my surgery and talked about the hormone treatment that I was about to start.  In all honesty, I am more worried about this part than I was for the surgery.  I knew what to expect with the surgery but I don't with this.

What in the world am I talking about?  Lupron Depo.  It is an injection that sends my body into a temporary chemically induced menopause.  I am doing a one month injection right now to see how my body handles it and everything goes well then I will take a 3 month dosage injection.  I did a bad thing and googled Lupron which immediately caused me to FREAK out.  Don't do it.

So if you are around me in the next month (or possibly 6 months), be completely prepared for me to possibly experience hot flashes and crazy mood swings.  True story.  I probably need to obtain one of those personal fans that hangs around your neck and can spray water....like you see at Six Flags or Disney World.

Happy Halloween!

Mac was a spiderman who didn't want to wear the hat part.  He also wanted to wear a train hat or a pirate costume with it......he ended up wearing his Batman stocking cap with his Spiderman costume that was over his snowsuit.....

We headed out at 6 to take Mac trick or treating.  We like to go early with him so we can hand out candy when we get back.  We live in an awesome neighborhood and Mac always gets lots of candy!

Moose

With the weather changing, the moose have been making themselves more known.  We have had a crazy amount of moose in our yard and neighborhood lately.  This morning we saw a moose as we headed out of our neighborhood.  This afternoon Heyward started going CRAZY.  I go outside and there were the twin moose back.  They made their way down Woodward St and then into our yard.  Once in our yard, they ate my purple flowers.  They then discovered the carved pumpkin.  Not only did they eat half of it but they were also on my porch.......

What was left of my flowers...

What was left of Joe's pumpkin.  Note the moose footprints in my flower bed.  Hopefully their weight didn't mess up my tulip bulbs....

Picture Recap

Got my hair done yesterday!  Had to cover up the white hair with more blonde!

Breakfast this morning at the Southside Gril.  DELICIOUS.  We only discovered this place over the summer.

While Joe was gone, Mac had "homework."

I look like I could contact aliens....

There have been so many moose around lately.

Multitasking this morning.  Helping Nora with tummy time.  Playing with trains with Mac.

Joe and the kids waiting for MoeMoe to get here yesterday

Still waiting for MoeMoe to get here.

Some sweet chubby baby snuggle time

Soccer

Mac is back to doing soccer on Thursdays for 45 minutes.  He is actually doing much better and is actually listening to his coach.  Here are some pictures from his practice the other week......sorry for the blurriness.  3 year olds don't stay still.
